BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township is holding an “Old Fashioned” Arbor Day celebration, organized by the Bridgewater Township Shade Tree Board.
The free event will be held April 25 at 3 p.m. at the Bridgewater Municipal Complex Courtyard.
The event will include a memorial tree dedication, tree seedling distribution and a live musical performance by local band Off the Grid. There will also be light refreshments.
The Arbor Day celebration is being sponsored through the support of New Jersey Forestry Service and Sanofi.
The celebration, according to a release, will mark the township’s achievement as a recognized Tree City USA for the 19th consecutive year, while also honoring the community for its commitment to effective urban forest management. The program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service and National Association of State Foresters.
“Everyone benefits when elected officials, volunteers and the committed citizens in communities like Bridgewater make smart investments in urban forests,” Matt Harris, chief executive of the Arbor Day Foundation, said in the release. “Trees bring shade to our homes and beauty to our neighborhoods, along with numerous economic, social and environmental benefits.”
