BRIDGEWATER, NJ - No injuries have been reported in an incident that shut down the mall Thursday evening, but police are still investigating reports, according to a release from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.
According to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Bridgewater Township Police responded at 6:27 p.m. Thursday to a fight in progress at the food court in the Bridgewater Commons Mall.
Bridgewater mall security separated the individuals involved in the fight, Robertson said, and it continued onto the exterior parking lot area of the area, said Det. Jeanne Trillhaase, with Somerset County.
As officers responded to the scene, Trillhaase said, a call of shots fired was reported to police, and that is still under investigation and has not been confirmed.
Bridgewater Police and detectives, along with detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office, are on the scene for the investigation.
According to Trillhaase, there are no injuries reported at this time, and no arrests have been made or suspects identified. The area is currently secured by law enforcement.
