Bridgewater-Raritan Softball Tops Lady Tigers 6-2

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – The Bridgewater-Raritan High School Panthers softball team and the South Plainfield Lady Tigers squared off Monday in a much anticipated non-conference game, with the Panthers scoring a 6-2 victory.

Bridgewater-Raritan is ranked No. 1 in Somerset County and the Lady Tigers are ranked No. 1 in Middlesex County. The Tigers had the home field advantage, but that wasn’t a factor as Bridgewater-Raritan batted around in the first inning, scoring five runs en route to the victory over South Plainfield.

The Panthers' Kirsten Williams, Tiffany Mazzagotti and Sarah Karmazyn all had RBI hits in the first inning. Samantha Ward homered in the third inning to put Bridgewater-Raritan up 6-0.

Ward was 2-for-3 on the day with a homerun, two runs scored and an RBI.

Bridgewater-Raritan’s Megan Zinn picked up the win for the Panthers.

South Plainfield’s Nicole Gerardi was 2-for-3 with a run scored. The Tigers’ Katherine Vill took the loss allowing four earned runs on nine hits over seven innings.
