Bridgewater Rugby Players Named to All State Team

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - After a very successful season, Bridgewater rugby players Matt Alesandro, Andru Gonzalez, Nick Mitchell, Chris Nice and Joe Goodberlet have all made the New Jersey D1 All State team. 

Alesandro, who played inside center, excels at his position. He is a dynamic leader and captain of the team. 

Gonzalez played flyhalf, which is similar to a quarterback. He was a force on the field with many strong runs and big tackles.

Nice played fullback and was known to field every kick that went his way and was great at open field tackles. 

Mitchell played 8-man, and, although it was his first season, he gained yards every time he touched the ball. He was also an excellent defender, making many tackles. 

Gooderberlet played second row and had many powerful runs and played physical, aggressive defense.

The players will be honored at an awards ceremony at Overlook Medical Center June 22 at 6:30 p.m.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.
