BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Several students were honored by the board of education for their work on a rain garden project at Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School.

The students honored were Aneesh Nagalkar, Ritika Thomas, Pravar Jain, Sujay Edavalapati and Amogh Jupalli.

"We wanted to acknowledge the initiative of the five students for their creation of a rain garden at BRMS," said their advisor, Patricia Magee.

Magee said the students developed a proposal to create a rain garden to purify drainage water from the building before it enters into the watershed. She said they developed relationships with Rutgers University and the Raritan Headwaters Initiative.

The rain garden was installed just before the end of the school year.

"They rolled up their shirtsleeves and were able to turn a dream into a reality," Magee said. "I commend the students."
