County Single Women's Group Planning Trips


SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - The Somerset County Single Senior Women’s Group, which is designed for anyone over the age of 21, is planning a number of trips for 2015.

The trips include motorcoach transportation leaving from Raritan, as well as most meals. Early registration is recommended.

The first trip is a five-day one to Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket from May 25 through May 29. The cost is $670 double occupancy, with a $151 single supplement, and it includes a guide tour of Cape Cod from Hyannis to Provincetown, a ferry ride to and tour of Martha’s Vineyard and a cruise to Nantucket Island.

The second trip is a one-day one on the Hudson “River Rose” Cruise in Newburg, New York July 16. It is a cost of $83 per person, and is preceded by a sit-down reserved luncheon overlooking the Hudson.

There will next be a Pennsylvania Grand Canyon trip Sept. 9, Sept. 10 and Sept. 11, at a cost of $395 double occupancy and a single supplement of $80. The trip includes a ride on Hiawatha Riverboat, as well as a Trolley Tour of Millionaire’s Row and the Williamsport Community Arts Center.

From Oct. 7 through Oct. 9, there will be a trip of “Riding the Rails,” with two train rides. The trip includes the Cheat Salamander through the mountains and an open-air steam locomotive ride on the Durban Rocket, plus there is the American Music Theater and visits to Seneca Caverns and the Black Falls State Park. The cost is $447 per person with a $139 single supplement.

The final trip is Dec. 1 with a trip to “Sight & Sound” at the Millennium Theater, with a dramatization of the Christmas Nativity. The cost is $121 per person, and includes a buffet lunch.

Car Fire in Wendy's Parking Lot Deemed Not Suspicious, Bridgewater Police Say

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police responded to a car fire in the parking lot of Wendy's, on Route 22 East April 9, but the fire was not deemed suspicious, according to a report.

According to the report, an unoccupied 2003 Infinity G35 caught fire. A 2010 Honda CRV, which was parked next to it, was also damaged in the fire.

Bateman Bill to Require Training, Licensing for Pet Groomers

TRENTON, NJ - Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R-16) will introduce legislation to increase protections for family pets by requiring pet groomers to be properly trained and licensed following the deaths of three dogs in five months at different New Jersey pet salons.
