RARITAN, NJ - More than two years after a fire ripped through the United Dye building on Orlando Drive, demolition finally began Tuesday to tear the building down completely.

A fire started in the basement of the abandoned building on the morning of May 6, 2015, and firefighters were unable to save the structure. Firefighters knocked down part of the building to extinguish the fire.

Part of the goals for Raritan renewal outlined in Raritan Mayor Charles McMullin's state of the borough address in January 2017 was to take care of this property, preferably demolishing the building, by the end of the year.
