PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Piscataway Chiefs made easy work of the Bridgewater-Raritan Panthers in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey, Section 2, Group 5 Wrestling Tournament on Monday, defeating them 53-11 in the PHS Anthony Gymnasium.  

Wrestling at 152 lbs., the Chiefs’ Joseph Hatcher remains undefeated this season after pinning Bridgewater-Raritan’s Brett MacMath at the 3:42 mark.

“Tonight was a good win,” said Dan Smith, the Chief’s head coach. “We came into the section this year as the No. 1 seed which is definitely a positive for us, something we were aiming for all year so we achieved that small goal.”

The Chiefs’ record moves to 14-5 overall, 5-2 in the GMC Red Division. The Panthers fall to 5-16 overall, 4-2 in the conference division.

Piscataway advances to play Perth Amboy, who they recently defeated on Senior Night, in the semi-final round this Wednesday at home again in the PHS Anthony Gymnasium.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police are investigating a report of a theft of more than $2,000 from a vehicle parked at the Home Depot, in the Bridgewater Towne Center, according to a report.
