FLEMINGTON, NJ - The Bridgewater-Raritan football team opened its season Friday night with a 28-14 victory on the road over Hunterdon Central.

Anthony Goffe scored two touchdowns for the Panthers, who took a 7-0 lead on David Usewick's 6-yard TD run early in the second quarter. After Hunterdon Central tied the game later in the quarter, Goffe turned in a workhorse performance on Bridgewater's next scoring drive. He carried 13 times for 62 yards during the series, including a 5-yard TD run that gave BRHS a 14-7 lead before halftime.

In the third quarter, the Panthers extended their lead to 21-7 on a 25-yard TD pass from Greg Verano to Goffe. Hunterdon Central closed to within seven again on a long TD pass before the end of the third period.

Verano's second TD pass of the night was a big one--a 15-yard TD pass to Brandon Myers on a fourth-down play with 3:03 left in the game for a 28-14 lead.
