RARITAN, NJ - A groundbreaking is scheduled for June 12 for the Crossings at Raritan, a multi-family community in Raritan at the corner of Second Avenue and Third Street.

The planned community will be a four-story property with 276 units, consisting of studio, one, two and three-bedroom homes.

The building will also include a secured parking garage with elevator access and a bike-share program. Residents will have access to a virtual fitness center and yoga studio, plus a community room, business center, chef-inspired kitchen and mailroom.

According to a release, the apartments will have an open-floor concept, each fitted with a built-in washer and dryer, plus kitchens with stainless steel appliances.

The building near the Raritan train station is being developed by Accurate Builders and Developers, a Central Jersey-based development firm.

“Crossings at Raritan is continuing the trend of Accurate Builders and Developers’ belief in the importance of developing along the Raritan Valley Line,” Jack Klugmann, CEO of Accurate Builders and Developers, said in the release. “As well, Crossings promises to greatly enhance its surroundings with its updated architecture and façade.”

Raritan Mayor Charles McMullin said in the release that he believes the project will help to revitalize Raritan’s downtown and bring advantages to the entire borough.

The property is block 81 on the tax map, which was approved as an area of redevelopment in 2016 after the developer on the property requested the borough consider it as an area in need of redevelopment.

The developer had been looking to purchase the homes currently on the property there in order to move forward with the redevelopment, all of which was settled prior to the application approval.

Once the area was deemed by the borough council as an area in need of redevelopment, the planning board approved the application for the development itself.

The ground-breaking ceremony is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. June 12.

Crossings at Raritan is planning for an opening in 2020.
