Every Monday, adults in transition meet at Professional Service Group of Central New Jersey (PSGCNJ) to network, share support, and listen to job search advice from experts in helping people find their next career.

4/03 Abby Kohut: "Secrets Recruiters Don’t Want You to Know"

President of Staffing Symphony, Abby Kohut is known in the job search world as Absolutely Abby and the author of “Absolutely Abby’s 101 Job Search Secrets." In the past 18 years, Abby held corporate recruiting positions in a variety of industries and is responsible for helping 10,000 people get hired. Her website, AbsolutelyAbby.com, was selected as one of the “Top 100 Websites for Your Career” by Forbes.

This presentation offer insight into what HR recruiters look for when evaluating qualifications. Tips on cover letters, keywords, thank you follow-ups and phone screening will be discussed.

4/28  Nick Corcodilos: "Ask The Headhunter: How to Stand Out & Be The Profitable Hire!"

Headhunter Nick Corcodilos is host of the website and blog AskTheHeadhunter.com, and a columnist for PBS NewsHour.org and Adobe Systems’ CMO.com. Nick conducts workshops for some of the top MBA schools around the world including Cornell, UCLA, Northwestern, Harvard and University of London.

During his presentation, Nick will candidly discuss the obstacles that drive all job hunters crazy, and how to overcome them by targeting the right employers and being ready to show how you will improve their business. Q&A will follow.

"Our mission is to provide all job seekers, whether unemployed or underemployed, a place where they can be provided the tools to land their new job more quickly," explained Daphne Thomas Jones, executive director of PSGCNJ, a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

"In fact, over 1,300 members of our group have landed new jobs since we launched nine years ago," she added. "Our organization is really a community where people in transition can build professional relationships by networking, keep their skills sharp or learn news ones by volunteering in our committees, as well as learn tips and receive training on how to transition to their next career."

Somerville Woman Arrested for Shoplifting from Macy's, According to Bridgewater Police Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Somerville woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than $400 worth of merchandise from Macy's at the Bridgewater Commons Mall July 7, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Sara Morales-Silva, 51, was charged with shoplifting after she was found with about $435.04 worth of merchandise from the store.
