BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of a 40-day period before Easter called Lent when Christians prepare their hearts for the joy of Easter morning. Typically, Lent is a period of self-reflection and recognition of our mortality; it is a time to turn away from all that separates us from God in order to live more abundantly in God’s mercy and love. Christians often mark their foreheads or hands with ashes at the beginning of Lent to remind themselves of their mortality and need of forgiveness.
The Bridgewater United Methodist Church, 651 Country Club Rd., Bridgewater, will open its doors to the community on Ash Wednesday, February 10 from 11 am-3 pm for prayer and ashes. There will also be a worship service that evening at 7:30, all are welcome. You can also join us very Sunday morning for worship at 9 or 10:30am. During Lent the church is hosting small group studies of the book,Forgiveness by Marjorie Thompson.
