Kindergarten Registration to be Held in Mid January

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Kindergarten registration for all primary schools will be held Jan. 14.

This year, according to superintendent Victor Hayek, the registration will be held at the same time on the same day, rather than on different days over a few months.

“It is earlier than we have done it in the past, usually spread out between February and March,” he said. “We thought it was a good idea to do it all at once in all schools.”

Children who will turn 5 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2015 are eligible to enroll in the district’s kindergarten program. The program is half-day with morning and afternoon sessions, from 8:35 a.m. to 11:15 a.m., or 12:15 p.m. to 2:55 p.m.

Parents will be notified of their children’s assigned sections after registration.

Registration for children with last names A through M will be from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Registration for children with last names N through Z will be from 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

If schools are closed for inclement weather, registration will be held Jan. 21.

Hayek said parents can call the transportation department at 908-722-1820, or the schools closest to them if they are not sure which is their home school.

Parents and guardians should complete paperwork in advance to expedite the registration process, and must bring birth certificate, immunization records and proof of residency for their children.

Forms can be printed from the district’s website at, and are available for pick up at the elementary schools.

Registration for first grade will be Jan. 15.

Children who will turn 6 years old on or before Oct. 1, 2015, attend a kindergarten program outside of the Bridgewater-Raritan Regional School District or if parents intend on enrolling them in first grade for Sept. 15 should attend the registration.

If the schools are closed for inclement weather, the alternate date will be Jan. 22.

Registration forms can also be found on the website.

Times for first grade registration are the same, 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for those with last names starting with A through M, and 12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. for those with last names starting with N through Z.
