Local Gas Prices Span Large Gamut Above $2 Per Gallon

SOMERSET COUNTY, NJ - We are heading into the New Year with gas prices at some of the lowest they've been in years.

In Bridgewater and Raritan, prices are still hovering over $2 per gallon, with just a few inching toward $3 per gallon, but in nearby counties, several prices are under $2 per gallon, even hitting $1.89 per gallon in North Plainfield.

According to AAA, it was predicted earlier this month that gas prices would fall to their lowest level since 2009 by Christmas, and prices have already fallen by more than one $1 since the 2014 peak of $3.70 per gallon in April.

Here are some prices, from New Jersey Gas Prices, in Bridgewater and Raritan and the surrounding area as we head into the new year:

  • $2.37 - Shell, Martinsville (1972 Washington Valley Road & Chimney Rock Road
  • $2.29 - Shell, Raritan (601 1st Avenue & US-202)
  • $2.23 - Raceway, Branchburg (1004 US-202 S near Huyler Rd)
  • $2.27 - Gulf, Branchburg (954 US-202 S & River Rd)

Somerville Woman Arrested for Shoplifting from Macy's, According to Bridgewater Police Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Somerville woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than $400 worth of merchandise from Macy's at the Bridgewater Commons Mall July 7, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.
