BRIDGEWATER, NJ — There has been a data security issue involving customer payment card data at certain Lord & Taylor stores in North America, parent company Hudson’s Bay Company announced Sunday.
Certain Saks Fifth Avenue and Saks OFF 5TH stores were also affected, according to HBC.
“We wanted to reach out to our customers quickly to assure them that they will not be liable for fraudulent charges that may result from this matter,” Lord & Taylor said on its website. “We have identified the issue, and have taken steps to contain it. Once we have more clarity around the facts, we will notify our customers quickly and will offer those impacted free identity protection services, including credit and web monitoring. We encourage our customers to review their account statements and contact their card issuers immediately if they identify activity or transactions they do not recognize.”
According to an updated statement as of Monday, HBC believes the breach no longer poses a risk to customers shopping at the stores, and there is no indication that it is affecting e-commerce or other digital platforms.
At this time, according to the statement, they are not saying which store locations exactly have been affected, but there will be a call center open April 4 for patrons to call with questions about the breach.
Bridgewater has a Lord & Taylor location in the Bridgewater Commons Mall, and a Saks OFF 5TH opened March 8 in the Chimney Rock Plaza.
