BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The man killed after being struck by a car on Route 22 late Sunday has been identified as Jose L. Espiridion, of Hampton, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

The 38-year-old was struck by a vehicle on Route 22 West, near North Gaston Avenue, at about 11:55 p.m. Sunday when he was standing in the center lane of travel.

According to police, Espiridion was struck by a 2015 Ford Mustang, driven by Douglas Marino, 25, of Bridgewater.

The motor vehicle crash is still under investigation.

It is being investigated by the Bridgewater Township Police Department Traffic Safety Bureau and the Somerset County Accident Reconstruction Team. Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Bridgewater Township Police Officer Kevin Lamey at 908-722-4111, Ext. 4132.
