Man Shot and Killed in Bound Brook

SOMERVILLE, NJ – A 27-year-old Bound Brook man was shot and killed near his home on Church Street earlier this week.

The victim has been identified as William Roberts, according to Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutors Office and Bound Brook police are involved in an ongoing investigation; they have determined that the shooting was an isolated incident, and that Roberts was the intended target, according to Roberts.

Robertson provided the following account:

Bound Brook police received several 911 calls at 6:23 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, reporting gunshots fired, with callers saying there was a man on the ground in the vicinity of Church and East Second Street.

Police found Roberts suffering from a gunshot wound to his torso.

Police and medical first responders from the Bound Brook Rescue Squad, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital/Somerville performed life saving measures on Roberts, who was transported to a local trauma center for emergency treatment. He died in surgery from his wounds.

Robertson said detectives have received limited cooperation from potential eyewitnesses and are urging anyone that may have been present and/or observed the incident to contact authorities. All calls are kept confidential.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.
