Master Gardeners Win Award


The Newsletter Team of the Rutgers Master Gardeners of Somerset and Hunterdon Counties, including a resident of Bridgewater, was recently honored by the National Association of County Agricultural Agents.

Their newsletter, “Down the Garden Path,” was chosen as the national winner in the annual Communication Awards program.

The awards program recognizes excellence in communication in more than 14 categories, and “Down the Garden Path” from 2013 was chosen in the Team Newsletter category. The awards will be presented at a conference in Alabama in July.

The team members are Nancy Boney, of Bridgewater; Gail Smith, of North Plainfield; Marsha Longshore, of Bound Brook; Cathy Tchorni, of Somerville; Andrea Cavallaro,of Pittstown; Pat Miller, of Flemington; Lyn Magee, of Glen Gardner; Susan Haake, of High Bridge; Rae Narasimhan, of Flemington; and Kim McCavera, of Basking Ridge.

The Rutgers Master Gardener program is a volunteer organization of the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.
