Matheny Students Showcase Their Artwork in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Pottery and sculptural works made by students in the Matheny Medical and Educational Center adult services program were on display at the Bridgewater Township Library throughout June.

There was an opening reception June 16 with families, Matheny staff members and friends from the community.

Matheny is a special hospital and educational facility in Peapack for children and adults who have medically complex developmental disabilities.

The adult education programs, according to a release, are designed to instill self respect and self-expression for adult residents and health service patients. In addition, the ceramics program teaches them about working in clay, incorporating design and principles of art.

The pottery and sculptural works are made through hand building techniques of pinching, coiling and slab building.

Somerville Woman Arrested for Shoplifting from Macy's, According to Bridgewater Police Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Somerville woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than $400 worth of merchandise from Macy's at the Bridgewater Commons Mall July 7, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Sara Morales-Silva, 51, was charged with shoplifting after she was found with about $435.04 worth of merchandise from the store.
