Memorial Day to be Commemorated in Bridgewater, Raritan

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Memorial Day weekend, the first unofficial start of summer, is coming, and Bridgewater and Raritan have plans to keep you busy for all three days.

May 24

The John Basilone Memorial Cycling Classic is returning to Raritan, beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the start and finish line at Doughty Street on West Somerset Street in Raritan. The event is five short-course races through Downtown Raritan, including both a women’s and men’s professional race. There will also be a Family Fun Ride on the course at 9 a.m. There will be food, family entertainment, fun and much more.

May 26

The American Legion Post #327 is hosting a parade, service and festivities, beginning at 11 a.m. on Beach Street in Bridgewater. The parade will travel along Old York Road and end at Ardmaer Park. From there, a memorial service will be held at about 11:30 a.m., with refreshments following at the American Legion Post on Old York Road.

May 26

The Martinsville VFW Post 6588 will be sponsoring a Memorial Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. at Chimney Rock Park in Martinsville.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.
