New Jersey American Water Replacing Pipes in Raritan

RARITAN, NJ - New Jersey American Water is planning to replace more than 1,900 feet of unlined cast-iron water main throughout Raritan Borough, according to a release from the company.

According to the release, the main has routed water beneath Raritan as far back as 1910.

The 3- and 4-inch water pipes, the release said, will be replaced with 8-inch cement-lined ductile iron pipes. The work is estimated to cost about $600,000, and be completed by Aug. 31.
