Bridgewater, NJ — On June 28, Our House, Inc., whose mission is to provide “healthy, stimulating, and inclusive environments for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” held a ribbon cutting for its fifth Hope Autism Solutions program site at the PeopleCare Center for Nonprofits in Bridgewater, NJ.

Michele DelCorsano, President and CEO of Our House, Inc. said that the latest site of Hope Autism Solutions will allow the agency to help even more adults with autism who need day services. Moreover, the location will also be home to a fourth Volunteer Action Program site.

“Imagine the joy of a parent to know that their child, who was faced with such obstacles, is now participating in meaningful day activities – whether it be working or volunteering – and interacting with their communities in a positive way.  This is powerful and why we do what we do,” she said.

Volunteer Action Program (VAP) operates out of Union and Somerset counties, supporting 48 individuals with developmental disabilities. VAP participants volunteer their time at organizations such as SAGE (Meals on Wheels), Eva’s Village, Wagner Farms, Catholic Charities, Furniture Assist, and other nonprofit entities. Besides giving back to the community, participants attend group outings and other recreational and social activities such as apple picking, bowling, seeing movies, etc.

Hope Autism Solutions (HAS) currently has 140 participants throughout five sites, with growth expected to continue; another site is planned to open in Woodbridge in 2019.
