BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Parlin man was arrested Jan. 13 for shoplifting over $1,000 worth of merchandise from Target in the Promenade Shopping Center, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

James Manion, 34, was arrested after he was allegedly found with $1,363 worth of merchandise.

In addition, police said, Manion was found to have outstanding warrants from Belleville, Hillside, Milltown and South River.

After being processed for the arrest, the report said, Manion was also served with a complaint summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Manion was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.

Police made several other arrests at the beginning of January for shoplifting.

  • John J. Bakitas, 64, of Somerville, was arrested Jan. 4 for shoplifting after he was allegedly found with $80 worth of merchandise from Marshalls at the Promenade Shopping Center. Bakitas was also found to have outstanding warrants from Raritan and the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office. Bakitas was processed for the arrest and lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
  • Dvon Spicer, 24, of Union, was arrested Jan. 5 for shoplifting after he was allegedly found with $251 worth of merchandise from Target at the Promenade Shopping Center. He was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Nicole Sarf, 36, of Manalapan, was arrested Jan. 12 for shoplifting after allegedly being found with $199 worth of merchandise from the Apple Store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. Sarf was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Justin Horowitz, 22, of New Brunswick, was arrested Jan. 12 for shoplifting after allegedly being found with $298 worth of merchandise from the Apple Store at the Bridgewater Commons Mall. Horowitz was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Johnny Mitchell, 45, of Newark, was arrested Jan. 16 for an outstanding Bridgewater warrant. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
