BRIDGEWATER, NJ – The Somerset Patriots will host an auction of sports memorabilia conducted by Joe Bodnar, New Jersey’s premiere auctioneer, Sunday, Aug. 6  at TD Bank Ballpark.

Items to be sold to the highest bidder include a commemorative Patriots jersey signed in silver Sharpie by members of the 2017 team, including Sparky Lyle, manager emeritus; a luxury suite that hosts 25 guests; a team-signed bat, autographed baseballs, limited edition sports artwork by James Fiorentino and more.

Bodnar will host a display on the concourse from the time gates open at 4 p.m. through the conclusion of the game to afford fans a close-up view of the items included in the auction.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit Operation Shoebox New Jersey, (, a non-profit volunteer organization based in Somerset County that collects donations and sends personal care packages with snacks, food and toiletries to US troops deployed around the world.

Bodnar, the reigning Bid Calling champion of the New Jersey State Society of Auctioneers, will conduct the auction at the end of the game while standing on top of the Patriots’ dugout along the first base line. Bidders are invited to sit in the box seats behind the dugout. Spotters will keep track of those who raise their hands to bid on the items.

Video clips from recent television shows featuring Bodnar’s Auctions will be shown on the ballpark’s video screen, including segments from “Impractical Jokers” and “Comic Book Men.” A promotional video showing members of the Patriots signing a jersey worn by Bodnar will also be seen.

Bodnar is hosting this year’s sports memorabilia auction, which had been hosted by the NJSSA the previous six years.

“We want to continue to support Operation Shoebox New Jersey and to help support our troops,” Bodnar said.  “It’s a phenomenal organization, a fantastic cause that touches peoples’ lives who are overseas, receiving care packages they’re not expecting, it really helps to bring a part of home to them,” he added. “It’s important to keep it going.”

Bodnar is also promoting the auction as Customer Appreciation Day for those who come out to his monthly auction, held at the New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center, 97 Sunfield Ave., Edison.

Bodnar will distribute free tickets to the Aug. 6 memorabilia ballpark auction at his monthly auction at the Expo Center on Thursday, July 20.

The highest bidder on each of the items is the winner; items will be available at check out alongside the dugout. Charge cards will be accepted.

Tickets to the Aug. 6 game are available by calling the Patriots at (908) 252-0700 or at TD Bank Ballpark, 1 Patriots Way, Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
