RARITAN BOROUGH, NJ - After an extremely close vote, with results separated by fewer than 25 votes, a petition was filed for a recount of the 2014 Borough Council election results.

The results remained the same, with Democrat James Foohey and Republican incumbent Denise Carra being declared the winners.

With all the votes, including the provisional ballots, counted, the tally stands at Foohey winning 764 votes, Carra winning 742, Democrat Tracy Cavallaro winning 735 and Republican incumbent Don Tozzi winning 724 votes.

The petition for a recount was filed and the recount was done Friday morning.

According to Raritan Borough Clerk Maggie Schmitt, the results of the recount confirmed the original counts.
