RARITAN, NJ - Raritan Borough Recreation held its annual Halloween parade Monday, with families and children showing off their costumes as they paraded down Somerset Street.

In addition to the parade, the event featured a costume contest and much more.

Winning the costume contest in the age 1 to 3 category were Logan Johnson as a scarecrow, first place; Samuel Stowe as Woody the cowboy, second place; Alexander Suarez as Luigi, third place; and Ian Sanchez as a police officer, fourth place.

In the ages 4 to 7 category, the winners were Kenyel Porras as an astronaut, first place; Dustin Johnston as the Tin Man, second place; Zoe Mihalick as an astronaut, third place; and Lenore Protich as a skeleton, fourth place.

In the ages 8 to 13 category, the winners were Corey Besasparis as a hamburger in first place; Jaida Montgomery, second place; Laila Jarrett as a broken doll, third place; and Chloe Deitrick as Wonder Woman, fourth place.

Group winners were Mason Johnson as the lion, Dustin Johnson as the Tin Man and Logan Johnson as the scarecrow.

The adult winner was Chris Tyler, as Hulk Hogan.

Car Fire in Wendy's Parking Lot Deemed Not Suspicious, Bridgewater Police Say

April 20, 2018

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police responded to a car fire in the parking lot of Wendy's, on Route 22 East April 9, but the fire was not deemed suspicious, according to a report.

According to the report, an unoccupied 2003 Infinity G35 caught fire. A 2010 Honda CRV, which was parked next to it, was also damaged in the fire.

Bateman Bill to Require Training, Licensing for Pet Groomers

TRENTON, NJ - Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R-16) will introduce legislation to increase protections for family pets by requiring pet groomers to be properly trained and licensed following the deaths of three dogs in five months at different New Jersey pet salons.

“It is sadly far too common for us to read of dog grooming deaths in the news,” said Bateman.
