Raritan Hosting Family Fun Fitness Festival Wednesday


RARITAN, NJ - The Raritan Community Events and Programs Department, with Retro Fitness of Raritan, is hosting a free Family Fun Fitness Festival July 26 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Riverfront Park on Canal Street.

The evening will include obstacle courses, hula hoop contests, a 3-legged race, egg walk, dress-up relay, cardboard box relay, bean toss, water balloon toss, tire run course, sample Retroblend smoothies, vendors, prizes and giveaways.

In addition, the event will have free fitness assessments for all who attend.

“This is for the community, and we’re really excited to do this event and to partner with Retro Fitness,” Linda Schulte, community events and program coordinator for Raritan, said in a release. “We want families, friends and neighbors to come to Raritan Borough and enjoy a fun free night, learn some new things and get some giveaways.”

“The evening will provide all with a chance to have some fun while still getting in some secret exercise, a perfect combination for a great night,” she added.

The festival will also be featuring Empower, Hunterdon Healthcare of Raritan, Michael’s Miracles, Major Taylor Cycling Club of New Jersey, Chair Message with Maximum Health & Wellness and more.

Dunellen Man Arrested for Simple Assault Following Fight, According to Raritan Police

RARITAN, NJ - A Dunellen man was arrested for simple assault after police were called to a fight in progress on East Somerset Street, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Franklin Cardenas-Hernandez, 34, was charged with simple assault in the incident March 11.

According to police, officers were sent to a residence on East Somerset Street for a report of a fight in progress.
