RARITAN, NJ - A Raritan man was arrested on firearms charges Feb. 25 after police were dispatched to the intersection of Route 202 and First Avenue for a male acting abnormally, according to Raritan Borough Police.

Jake Sommers, 20, was arrested for possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to police, a passerby said they observed Sommers sitting on the curb of the highway, and they were concerned for his welfare. When officers found him, the report said, they found he was intoxicated, and they found a digital scale used for narcotics use sticking out of his clothing.

In addition, police found a quantity of marijuana and a Marksman Repeater pellet handgun.

Officer Damien Chromowsky and Officer Andrew Ragati investigated the incident.

Police also made an arrest on drug charges at the end of the month.

  • Kim Hutchinson, 45, of Frenchtown, was arrested Feb. 26 for possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a motor vehicle stop.
