BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Raritan man was arrested Jan. 21 for possession of a controlled dangerous substance after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 202/206 North, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Nelson Duarte, 18, was issued motor vehicle summonses and criminal complaints for speeding, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Duarte was also found to have an outstanding warrant out of Raritan.

Duarte posted bail and was released pending a court appearance.

Bridgewater Police also made arrests for driving while intoxicated and more at the end of January.

  • Daniel Fenton, 62, of Bridgewater, was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle complaint on Chimney Rock Road. He was also issued a summons for having an open container of an alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle. Fenton was processed and released pending a municipal court appearance.
  • Police reported that an employee of JT Landscaping, on Old York Road, reported a burglary at about 8:51 a.m. Jan. 22. According to the report, in the overnight hours, someone broke into a shipping container on the property and stole several pieces of landscaping equipment, with an approximate total of $4,600.
  • Celso Alegre-Toledo, 35, of Raritan, was arrested for an outstanding warrant Jan. 23. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
  • Robert O'Brien, Jr., 49, of Bridgewater, was arrested Jan. 25 for an outstanding warrant. He was lodged in the Somerset County Jail.
