BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School continued an 18-year tradition by holding an annual Holiday Food Drive and creating food baskets to support local families in need.

Efforts for the drive were led by the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School’s SkillsUSA Chapter, Class Advisors and principal Diane Ziegler.

As part of the food drive, each class grade had the opportunity to win a pizza party by donating the most food items. For the third year in a row, the freshman class led by physical education instructor Matthew Poznanski won the party by donating over 1,000 food items.

After the initial donations were collected, 12 families in need were provided baskets filled with a complete Thanksgiving meal including a turkey, fresh pie created by the Culinary Arts students and all the trimmings.

“It is great to see our school community come together and work towards the common goal of helping other," Ziegler said. "We appreciate all the hard work done by our students and staff to make this event a success.”
