BRIDGEWATER, NJ - For the fourth year, students from the Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School Graphic Communications program received the Spirit of the Season Award from Jeanene Leppert, a Special Projects Manager at Special Olympics New Jersey (SONJ).

This year, the award was presented to Lauren Bottino, of Bridgewater, and Jacqueline Gassler, of Branchburg, for their hard work in designing an ugly sweater themed logo for the annual Special Olympics New Jersey Jingle All The Way 3K Road Race & Fun Run.

The Jingle All The Way 3K Road Race & Fun Run was held Dec. 6 in Lawrenceville.  This year, 650 runners and an additional 350 volunteers all took part in raising $40,000 for Special Olympics New Jersey.

Leppert said that she continues to use the SCVTHS students to create the design because the students “tap into what is current and trending” and always create attractive designs for their themes, which change on a yearly basis.

Along with the award, and as a “thank you” to the two graphic communications students who created the design, Leppert presented the students with t-shirts and sweatshirts with their design from the 3K event.
