Somerset County Office of Tourism is Accepting Nominations for Annual Salute to Tourism Awards through December 20

BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Somerset County Tourism is now accepting nominations for the 5 annual Salute to Tourism awards program. The event, which includes an awards presentation and keynote luncheon, will be held January 19, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the The Bernards Inn, 27 Mine Brook Road in Bernardsville.

This year’s keynote speaker is hospitality expert, writer, travel podcaster and consultant, Glenn Haussman.

The Salute to Tourism awards pay tribute to front line tourism staff and organizations that set the bar for the Somerset County Tourism industry. Nominations are being accepted through December 20in the following categories:

Economic Champion: A person or organization that has made a significant and direct impact on the Somerset County economy through visitor spend, job creation, or increased tax revenues.

Service Excellence: A Somerset County tourism professional who has demonstrated outstanding customer service at a county tourism asset.

Tourism Champion: An individual or organization that has promoted Somerset County’s attributes and resources to help establish the destination brand and draw more visitors.

Car Fire in Wendy's Parking Lot Deemed Not Suspicious, Bridgewater Police Say

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police responded to a car fire in the parking lot of Wendy's, on Route 22 East April 9, but the fire was not deemed suspicious, according to a report.

According to the report, an unoccupied 2003 Infinity G35 caught fire. A 2010 Honda CRV, which was parked next to it, was also damaged in the fire.

Bateman Bill to Require Training, Licensing for Pet Groomers

TRENTON, NJ - Sen. Christopher "Kip" Bateman (R-16) will introduce legislation to increase protections for family pets by requiring pet groomers to be properly trained and licensed following the deaths of three dogs in five months at different New Jersey pet salons.
