BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Students from the HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) club and the Health Occupations Program at Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, in coordination with The Community Blood Services of New Jersey, hosted their Eighth Annual Blood Drive on March 4. Over 100 SCVTHS students and staff members were credited with contributing 71 units at the event.
The Health Occupations and HOSA students were involved in the scheduling and coordination of the event, as well as caring for the blood donors during and after their donations. Senior Health Occupations student Alejandra Cortes of South Bound Brook remarked on how much fun she and her classmates had at the event.
“It is great to give back to our community," she said. "I also had fun learning the process and gaining some experience. We were able to learn by watching and asking questions while the event was happening.”
