Somerset Man Arrested for Shoplifting at Saks OFF 5th, According to Bridgewater Police Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Somerset man was arrested for shoplifting after allegedly being found with merchandise from Saks OFF 5th, at the Chimney Rock Crossing, according to a Bridgewater Township Police report.

Shan Sawant, 19, was arrested May 24 for shoplifting after being found with $120 worth of merchandise from the store.

He was processed and released pending a court appearance.

Police are investigating other thefts and damage throughout the township.

  • A resident of Janine Way reported May 22 that there was damage to a window on her 2001 Toyota Sienna, while it was parked overnight. According to the report, someone smashed the side window to the vehicle with an unknown object, but nothing was taken.
  • A Middlesex resident reported May 24 at about 4 p.m. that her vehicle had been burglarized while it was parked at Washington Valley Park between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. According to the report, someone smashed a window and stole her purse that contained cash, credit cards and personal items.
  • Loc Le, 57, of South Bound Brook, was arrested May 25 for driving while intoxicated after he was stopped for a motor vehicle violation on Route 22 East. He was issued summonses for driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain a traffic lane. Le was processed and released pending a court appearance.
  • A Manville resident reported May 28 about the theft of his iPhone 8 while he was at Maggiano's, on Commons Way. The phone was left unattended in the restroom, and was missing when he returned.

Bridgewater Police Investigating Report of $2K Worth of Tools Stolen from Car, According to Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police are investigating a report of a theft of more than $2,000 from a vehicle parked at the Home Depot, in the Bridgewater Towne Center, according to a report.

A Hillsborough resident reported June 3 at about 5:58 p.m. that his vehicle had been burglarized while parked at the Home Depot. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m.
