Somerville Hosting 9/11 Memorial Walk and 5K

SOMERVILLE, NJ - The 9/11 Heroes 5K Run and 1 Mile Family Fun Walk will be held Sept. 13 in Somerville to honor the sacrifices of the first responders from the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

The event will take place at 2 p.m. at the Ethicon Somerville campus.

The annual event is held every year to honor the heroes of 9/11, and is held all over the country, by different communities with the same goal of honoring the first responders.

In addition to the walk, there will be a First Responder Park set up, featuring emergency equipment, personnel and vehicles for the public to see and interact with, as well as to show their appreciation.

They are looking for participants to register as early as possible. To register, visit

Proceeds from the event are invested back into the race communities to support local veterans, first responders, troops and military families.

The race itself is sponsored y the Travis Manion Foundation, which was formed in honor of 1st Lt. Travis Manion, who died in Iraq April 29, 2007. It was created to assist the nation’s veterans and families of the fallen.

Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.

County Holding 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Employee Wellness Committee is partnering with EmPoWER Somerset for the 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness and 1-mile Fun Walk for county residents March 24.

The event, according to a release, is being held rain or shine at 9 a.m. at Duke Island Park, on Old York Road.
