Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center Presents “Visions of Hope” and “Voices of the Journey”

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ - Summit Medical Group MD Anderson Cancer Center is proud to present the acrylic paintings of Susan Hope Schaffer in “Visions of Hope:  Cancer journeys reflecting inspiration and hope,” opening Friday, March 3, 2017, with a reception from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  The exhibition will also feature “Voices of the Journey,” art by and for cancer survivors. Selections of artwork will also be on loan from Lilly Oncology on Canvas, a partnership between Lilly Oncology and The National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship

A resident of Bethlehem, PA, Susan Hope Schaffer is a self-taught artist and studies oil painting at the Banana Factory in Bethlehem with local artist, William Christine.  A breast cancer survivor, her work highlights how her medical team, family, and other cancer survivors gave her hope through her diagnosis and treatment. Schaffer’s work has been exhibited at the Anderson Campus of St. Luke’s Cancer Center, Easton, Penn., Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown, Penn., and Raritan Bay Medical Center, Edison, N.J. Through the Lilly Oncology on Canvas partnership, her work has appeared at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Fox Chase Train Station at Oxford Avenue, both in Philadelphia.

Author, artist and breast cancer survivor, Marion Behr, will also be on hand to promote her book, Surviving Cancer: Our Voices and Choices.

“Visions of Hope” and “Voices of the Journey” will be on display at Summit Medical Group, 1 Diamond Hill Road, Berkeley Heights, N.J., in the Lawrence Pavilion 1st floor exhibit area and Café Conference Center. The opening reception on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. will feature refreshments and live entertainment. A portion of the proceeds from any artwork sales will be donated to Pathways Women’s Cancer Support.

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police are investigating a report of a theft of more than $2,000 from a vehicle parked at the Home Depot, in the Bridgewater Towne Center, according to a report.

A Hillsborough resident reported June 3 at about 5:58 p.m. that his vehicle had been burglarized while parked at the Home Depot. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 5:50 p.m.
