BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Temple Sholom, in Bridgewater, celebrated its 50th anniversary May 21 with the official unveiling of a menorah of personalized bricks on the walkway leading up to the synagogue.

An outdoor celebration was held to celebrate the anniversary and unveil the menorah, with food, a DJ, a stilt walker, ribbon cutting ceremony and more.

More than 100 members purchased the personalized bricks at the temple, which raised over $60,000 through the process.

Rabbi Dan Selsberg said the gathering was important to celebrate because nothing has ever been quite as effective at keeping congregations tightly knit like a physical synagogue, so the bricks represent the community’s structure and the way into the synagogue itself.
