BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Three former Bridgewater-Raritan High School hockey players are now playing for The College of New Jersey, and just completed a very successful season with the team.
Mickey Avenoso, Will Dimock and Matt Leibers, with their team, won it all for the Colonial State College Hockey Conference, with Leibers scoring three goals and seven points, and Dimock posting 23 goals and 42 points in 21 games.
Goalie Avenoso ended with 14 wins and three shotouts, two in the playoffs.
In the last five-game run to the championship, Avenoso yielded only three goals, and ran a string of 150 saves on 153 shots with a 0.980 save percentage and 102 consecutive saves over a 183-minute span.
To win the championship, Avenoso helped the team shut out the University of Pennsylvania, 5–0 in the semis, and, in the finals, shut out Princeton, 5–0.
Both Avenoso and Dimock helped take BRHS to the Public A State Finals in 2014.
Avenoso set a Bridgewater-Raritan goaltending record with nine-and-one-third shutouts, eight in his senior year, and a 0.935 save average.
