“This is a great way to learn for families to learn about the area’s local history’, explained Johanna Salvemini, president of the Friends of Vermeule Mansion.  “Most of us have a general idea about the military part Somerset County played in the early centuries of our country.   Visiting numerous participating sites during the history weekend also offers a way to learn about additional aspects of local history - lore, music, craft, food and pastimes in a short amount of time”.

The Vermeule family, important contributors to the Continental Army’s welfare during the Revolutionary period promises a variety of informative and fun activities that will be presented in the 2-day offering.  More information about the event will be on the Somerset County Website including a list of up to 30 participating historic sites, guide book and map.

The Vermeule Mansion is open regularly on Saturdays from 10am-4 pm except holidays and is wheelchair accessible.  Have a passion for history and culture and sharing your time and knowledge with the community?  Join us on the Journey!
