BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Somerset County has provided an update on the work being done on Washington Valley Road.

The entire project is the reconstruction of Washington Valley Road from Chimney Rock Road to 700 feet east of Eastbrook Road. The work began in May, and has led to a number of detours, as well as confusion with school buses at the end of the school year.

Around July 22, the contractor will be moving to stage 2 of the project, with the active work zone area being moved to west of Van Nest Drive. The detour for Washington Valley Road will remain in effect.

In this stage of the project, there will be excavation for storm pipes, curb and new roadway pavement from 1,000 feet west of Van Nest Drive to Van Nest Drive.

According to the county, residents along Van Nest Drive, Lynne Way, Wilde Hollow Road and Washington Valley Road house numbers 2032 to 2055 will be able to access their homes from the east and not from Chimney Rock Road. Properties from 1979 to 2025 Washington Valley Road will still have access from the west by the intersection of Chimney Rock Road.
