BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Wawa celebrated its grand opening on Union Avenue, in Bridgewater, Friday with Bridgewater fire, rescue and police officers conducting a hoagie building contest.
In the contest, winners and runner-up teams received $1,000 for the charities of their choice.
The store is also offering free coffee through June 4.
Councilman Matthew Moench praised the chain for its opening and commitment to community.
"I'm thrilled that Wawa has seen fit to invest in our township, and especially in the Finderne section of town," he said. "Wawa's commitment to our community was highlighted today by their inclusion and recognition of the Finderne Fire Department, Finderne Rescue Squad and Bridgewater Police Department."
"I hope that Wawa's community involvement continues into the future," he added. "I'm positive that Wawa's presence in our community will be a benefit to all that live, work and shop in the Finderne area of Bridgewater."
