Youth Protection Symposium to Provide Information Every Youth Organization and Institution Needs to Know

CEDAR KNOLLS, NJ – The Boy Scouts of America, Patriots’ Path Council announced that it will host a Youth Protection Symposium, scheduled for April 29, featuring Victor Vieth, a recognized national authority on youth protection, who currently is executive director emeritus of Gunderson National Child Protection Training Center.

Vieth has trained thousands of child-protection professionals, and was named to the President’s Honor Roll of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children. He has also been instrumental in implementing 22 state and international Forensic Interview training programs and dozens of undergraduate programs on child maltreatment.

  • In Search of the Bottom Line: What every Youth-Serving Organization (YSO) Should Know: covering ten critical things every YSO should know about sex offenders and other child abusers. He will provide concrete policies and other reforms every YSO should implement immediately.
  • Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Research: providing key insights into to the most recent ACE research and its importance to youth serving organizations.
  • Resiliency: explaining what causes a child to be resilient, and what youth serving organizations can do to assist children in overcoming abuse and neglect.

Maria A. Ingraffia, Task Force Officer, Newark FBI Crimes Against Children Task Force will address issues relating to New Jersey.

All employees and volunteers of youth serving organizations, as well as legal counsel advising those organizations, are strongly encouraged to attend this important symposium, which qualifies for continuing education units, including: 3 CLE units, 4 elective EMT units, Professional Development certificates (endorsed by the NJEA Professional Development Institute) and ASWB (units pending.)

The Symposium will be held at Patriots’ Path Council, 1 Saddle Road, Cedar Knolls, NJ. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and includes complimentary breakfast. Raritan Police: Warren Man Arrested for DWI and More in Police Blotter

RARITAN, NJ - A Warren man was arrested Feb. 1 for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle violation, according to a report from Raritan Borough Police.

Wayne Krause, 68, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and speeding after being pulled over on Route 22 West.

Krause was processed and released pending a court appearance.

County Holding 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - The Somerset County Employee Wellness Committee is partnering with EmPoWER Somerset for the 5th Annual 5K Race to Wellness and 1-mile Fun Walk for county residents March 24.
