BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township Police responded to a car fire in the parking lot of Wendy's, on Route 22 East April 9, but the fire was not deemed suspicious, according to a report.

According to the report, an unoccupied 2003 Infinity G35 caught fire. A 2010 Honda CRV, which was parked next to it, was also damaged in the fire.

North Branch and Green Knoll fire both responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.

After an investigation, police said, it was found that the fire was not suspicious.

Bridgewater Police are also investigating a number of thefts throughout town at the beginning of April.

  • An employee of Target, at the Promenade Shopping Center, reported April 7 that someone stole an iPhone X (64 gb) from a display area in the electronics department. The phone is valued at $1,010.
  • An employee of Saks OFF 5th, in the Chimney Rock Crossing Shopping Center, reported April 9 that someone stole bottles of men's cologne from a display area. The value of the merchandise is $249.
  • Officers responded to Bridgewater Commons Mall April 10 at 7:30 p.m. for a report of a fight in progress. Edwin Paul Thomas, 32, of Maryland, was arrested for simple assault. He was processed and released pending a court appearance.
