Alternatives, in Raritan, Wins Healthier Somerset Gold Award for Outstanding Worksite Wellness Programs

RARITAN, NJ – Alternatives, Inc., of Raritan, was recognized with a 2018 Healthier Somerset Healthy Workplace Recognition Award for implementing worksite wellness programs that improve the health and wellbeing of its employees and clients.

Alternatives earned a Gold Award, which distinguishes companies with programs in place for at least five years, and in 10 award categories.

Healthier Somerset is a coalition of public and private companies with the mission to improve the health and well-being of people who live and work in Somerset County. The coalition shares information and creates alliances among individuals and organizations to create a healthier Somerset.

“Alternatives is honored to be recognized for our efforts to improve the health of our employees and clients, and further our goal to be the social service agency of choice for people in Central New Jersey,” said Nancy Good, president of Alternatives. “We are proud to be part of the Healthier Somerset coalition, which shares our view that the health of our community should be a priority.”

Alternatives received the Gold Award for implementing programs in the following categories:  Health Risk Assessment, Cholesterol Screenings, Blood Pressure Screenings, Blood Glucose Screenings, Flu Shot Clinics Smoke-Free Workplace, Health Education Seminars/Lunch and Learns, Health & Wellness Newsletters for Employees, Websites or Links to Resources, Employee Assistance Program, Weight Loss/Management Programs, Physical Activity Classes, AEDs and AED/CPR Training for Employees, Kitchen or Breakroom with Microwaves and Refrigerators , Community Health-Related Events (Heartwalk, Relay for Life, etc.), Green Initiatives and an On-Site Health Fair.

Somerville Woman Arrested for Shoplifting from Macy's, According to Bridgewater Police Report

BRIDGEWATER, NJ - A Somerville woman was arrested for allegedly shoplifting more than $400 worth of merchandise from Macy's at the Bridgewater Commons Mall July 7, according to a report from Bridgewater Township Police.

Sara Morales-Silva, 51, was charged with shoplifting after she was found with about $435.04 worth of merchandise from the store.
