MANVILLE, NJ - Valairco Heating & Cooling, in Manville, has been making a $500 donation each quarter to a charity or nonprofit that has been nominated by customers, friends and the general public, and now they are continuing that program to help more groups.
The most recent winner was Leah's Lemonade, a 9-year-old girl raising money for the Berkeley Heights Rescue Squad. She donated about $1,200 in 2018.
According to Richard Valenti, founder of Valairco, this was originally going to be a one-year project, but because of their experiences, he and Valairco owner Kevin McHugh have decided to continue this Valairco Cares program, donating $500 every three months.
Customers and others are welcome to nominate charities and non-profits for the gift.
So far, the company has made donations to Relay for Life, St. Josephs Service Center, Mom's Helping Mom's and the Berkeley Heights Education Foundation.
Nominated charities have included Diabetes Research Foundation, GiGi's Playhouse Hillsborough, Steeplechase Cancer Center, Summit Speech School, Manville Arts Council, New Providence EMS, Friends of Somerset Regional Animal Shelter and The Center for Great Expectations.
