Author Signing with AJ Smith

In his debut novel, AJ Smith sticks to what he knows: a hard day’s work, a cold beer, and the inescapable human emptiness that comes with not knowing exactly what his place is within the grand human comedy.

Join us at Barnes & Noble, Bridgewater at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 12th as we celebrate talented a new writer, AJ Smith, and his first novel, Growth.

The scene is Central New Jersey and the story centers around realistic and relatable characters such as Bburke- the overweight, divorced, and alcoholic simpleton who spends his evenings and weekends running a small side-business mowing lawns and pulling weeds for countless customers.

With the help of two newly hired, liberal arts graduates Bburke gathers a deeper philosophical view of his life, his art, and his fellow man. However, Smith challenges readers to ponder if Bburke's "growth" is perhaps at the expense of his own sanity.

AJ Smith's debut novel subtly draws readers in with likable characters and a rich storyline, while creating a feeling that grows increasingly uncomfortable as readers are forced to examine the true cost of looking within and making change.

Barnes & Noble, Bridgewater is honored to host this promising young novelist with a booktalk beginning at 6:00 p.m. AJ Smith will discuss what inspired "Growth" and the process of creating this provocative first novel followed by a question and answer session. Smith will also be personalizing autographed copies of his new book. Photo opportunities and one on one question and answer time with the author will be available as time permits. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County. This goes for ANY purchases made, not just Smith's novel, so be sure to mention them at checkout!

To reserve your copy/copies of Growth please call Barnes & Noble, Bridgewater at 908-526-7425 ( press 0 to skip auto attendant).
