Volunteer groups will welcome community to annual dinner event in Bridgewater

Bridgewater, N.J., Nov. 9, 2019 – On Sunday, November 24, Somerset County volunteers will host the annual Thanksgiving Cook & Serve dinner at the Bridgewater PeopleCare Center. Families and individuals in need are invited to enjoy a festive Thanksgiving meal at no cost.

The event is sponsored by the Somerville Alliance for Food Education (SAFE) in partnership with The Food Bank Network of Somerset County.

Guests from the community are invited to enjoy the free meal from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m.

“We encourage everyone in the community to donate, volunteer, or join us for this annual Thanksgiving tradition,” said Betty Krupka, a SAFE volunteer and one of the lead organizers of the event.

Volunteers are needed to prepare desserts on Nov. 23 at the Vocational-Technical School (14 Vogt Drive). On Nov. 24, volunteers will set up the PeopleCare Center (120 Finderne Avenue) and then serve the meal.

Donations of frozen turkeys, frozen vegetarian lasagnas, desserts, and monetary contributions to the Food Bank are also requested. For details and to register as a volunteer, visit bit.ly/somersetturkeycook.

November 11, 2019

To the Editor:

The Bridgewater election is over.

As I look back on the achievements of each candidate, there are some things that don’t make much sense to me. The messaging in each campaign ad was telling but certainly not prophetic. Matt Moench's stroll through the high school won over Jeffrey Brookner's commitment to transparency in government. Michael Kirsh's kitchen ...

'A Doll's House Part 2' Makes Timeless Claims at Summit Playhouse

SUMMIT, NJ – You wouldn’t think a follow-up to Henrik Ibsen’s play about Nora Helmer in 19th century Norway would be especially relevant today.

But the smart, funny sequel by Lucas Hnath has much to say about marriage, the cost of independence, abandoning one’s family and other issues that ring true. When Nora insists that marriage won’t exist in 20 or 30 years, ...
