BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater Township has officially confirmed that Trader Joe's will be coming to the Bridgewater Promenade.
Mayor Dan Hayes confirmed the expected opening, although an official timeline for the opening has not yet been announced.
"The much anticipated opening of Trader Joe's in Bridgewater is a welcome addition to our growing list of top tier retail options in our community," he said. "I congratulate everyone involved and I wish Trader Joe's much success in their new Bridgewater Promenade location."
The store is opening in the location of the former Golfsmith in the Bridgewater Promenade, and will also be taking some square footage from the adjacent Old Navy.
The new store will be 13,600 square feet.
Planning board approval for the changes to the property to make it a grocery store was awarded in December. Residents have been speculating for months that it would be a Trader Joe's, although the property owner did not indicate what the "specialty grocery store" would be when the application was first heard.
