NEW JERSEY – According to a Twitter post from Gov. Phil Murphy, he is planning to sign an executive order Wednesday that will reopen all state and county parks as of sunrise May 2.

In addition, all golf courses will be allowed to reopen as of May 2.

Social distancing will continue to be mandated, according to his post.

There is no official word yet from the county, and the order is expected to be signed some time on Wednesday.

All county parks, including trail systems, had been closed as of April 7, in accordance with an executive order from the governor. The closure included Natirar Park in Far Hills and Peapack-Gladstone; Duke Island Park, North Branch Park and Torpey Athletic Complex in Bridgewater; East County Park in Warren; Colonial Park in Somerset; and Skillman Park in Montgomery.

On April 21, the Somerset County Park Commission announced the cancellation of all events, programs and activities at county locations through the end of 2020, including the 4th of July fireworks at North Branch Park and the Summer Concert Series at Duke Island Park.
