BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Bridgewater-Raritan Middle School's incoming principal was introduced to the public May 14.
Christina Steffner was appointed interim principal for the 2019–2020 school year, at a rate of $550 per day, by unanimous vote of the nine members of the Bridgewater-Raritan board of education.
"Thank you all for coming out to see me," said Steffner to the audience of more than 100 individuals that evening. "I will work hard to win your trust."
A former teacher in town, Steffner also said that she saw some of her former students in the crowd that night, and admitted that she missed being in the classroom.
Steffner previously served as superintendent at Hunterdon Central Regional School District and principal of Hunterdon Central Regional High School, and later as superintendent in the Livingston Public School District, among her other academic stops. She currently resides in Bridgewater.
Current BRMS principal Nancy Iatesta is retiring from the district at the end of this school year.
